Noted.

A laptop with a number of post-its all over it

When it comes to note-taking apps for smartphones, there are lots of decent, functional options to choose from. A lot of these apps do more or less the same thing in terms of performing basic notetaking functions, but there’s a few apps that offer some especially unique features that deserve to be explored in greater detail. The app that we are looking at today is one of those standouts. So, without further ado, let’s dive into Noted.

Let’s start by talking about the feature that makes this app most unique: tags. Tags allow users to create prompts within their recording sessions by typing # and then naming the prompt or topic of conversation. When a user taps on a tag they will be brought to the exact moment when the tag was created. These TimeTags are incredibly useful for long, information-packed lectures that cover many topics, because they save the user from having to skim through audio in search of the specific topic or discussion that they are looking for. Created tags are clearly displayed and can be easily selected, making them a great feature for staying organized and on-track.

Aside from the standout timetag feature, Noted does everything else a notetaking app should do, and it does it well. Audio playback can be adjusted (not to mention edited with Noted+), recordings can be skipped through, and the audio records clearly and efficiently, so you won’t drain your battery while capturing audio.

Noted also supports drawing, highlighting, attachments and much more:

Other Features

  • Supports Split View
  • Syncs across iOS and macOS
  • Lots of export options
  • Notes can be categorized and organized
  • Dictation Support
  • Drag and drag content from other apps and websites

Noted (iOS only) is free with in-app purchases. The subscription version of the app, Noted+, offers advanced sharing and editing features, Time Strokes, Intelligent Playback, and more. To learn more about Noted including pricing information, click here.
