We all like to have choices in life, and kids are no different. In 2023, there’s certainly no shortage of games and gaming platforms to choose from, and apps like Roblox see millions of users and new games added every single day. So why can’t we apply the same approach the educational content? Wouldn’t it be great for students to choose from as wide a range of educational content as possible? The developers of the app that we are looking at today clearly thought so!

MentalUp is an app-based gaming and learning platform which features thousands of games, hundreds of fitness exercises, tests, and much more. When you first turn on the app, you’ll be prompted to enter some information regarding your child’s age and learning needs. Once you’ve completed the initial set up, then you’ll find yourself in the MentalUp “galaxy” where you can choose from a variety of activities. To choose between categories of activities, users navigate to different “planets”.

The Adventure Path takes you on a guided journey between different skills, allowing you to earn rewards and points as you learn core skills.

Fitness Planet encourages you to improve your physical fitness by engaging in a wide variety of age-appropriate exercises. You start by choosing their fitness buddy avatar, then you can get started on the exercise of your choice. The choices include balance, stretching, strength, cardio, and fun exercises.

Word of Games allows you to choose between thousands of fun and educational games, including puzzles, math games, attention games, visual/spatial intelligence, memory games, word games, and more. Your/ your child’s progress will be automatically saved, and completing levels earns in-game coins and other rewards.

Report Central allows you to better understand you or your child’s strengths and weaknesses through graphs and reports.

The Galaxy Store allows you to customize your avatar’s look, including hair, accessories, outfits, and more. And the items in this store can be purchased using the coins earned in game, so you’ll have extra incentive to complete puzzles and other games.

The Event Space is a special area for accessing limited-time events and promotions. There isn’t always an event taking place, but it’s always worth seeing what’s happening!

The Test Center allows you to take either a quick or advanced IQ test. You’re then shown a score board showing your highest scores, encouraging you to go back and try again for a higher score!

The app is engaging and well designed, and it features lots of entertaining and quirky characters. It’s obvious that a lot of thought went into making the app as fun as possible while still offering a wide range of solid, educational content. MentalUp is available for iOS, Android, and PC. Premium subscriptions are available for purchase, or users can take advantage of the 7-day free trial. Click here to learn more.
