“I Had Put off Getting Hearing Aids Because of the Cost,” WorkBC Assistive Technology Services Helps Caron Afford Hearing Aids

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services participant Caron.

Caron is self-employed as a counsellor in Victoria, and her job requires her to listen closely to her clients.

“I have lost some of my hearing over the last few years,” she says. “I found that I was missing things that clients said to me. I was embarrassed to keep asking people to repeat themselves. I want to be the best counsellor I can be!”

She had learned of WorkBC Assistive Technology Services from a client who was also having hearing problems, and decided to apply for funding for a set of hearing aids.

“The Assistive Technology Services program helped me with a good-sized portion of the cost for hearing aids,” she says.

“The difference is tremendous! I can now clearly hear what my clients are saying,” she explains. “I feel more confident in engaging with my clients. I know that I am hearing them properly. I’m sure that they benefit from that in many ways.”

Caron is grateful for the WorkBC Assistive Technology Services program, saying that it allowed her to finally get the hearing aids she needed.

“I would recommend the Assistive Technology Services program to others! I had put off getting hearing aids because of the cost, but once I knew I would have financial assistance I took the plunge,” she says.

“I am very grateful for the financial help and the kindness shown to me by the people at the Assistive Technology Services program,” she continues. “The people I talked to were extremely professional and helpful!”
