Connie’s New Hearing Aids Bolster Her Job Search
Connie, who has hearing loss, is looking for work. Her local WorkBC Centre referred her to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services (ATS) for help funding the hearing aids she needs for the job search process and for her future employment.
“Having this assistance has been life changing for me! I never knew how much I was actually missing not being able to hear properly. Being able to hear clearly what is being said to me both one on one and in larger conversations is going to assist me in my career more than I actually realized,” she shares.
Connie now feels much more confidence in her work prospects.
“The ATS program has given me so much confidence, knowing I can go into a job and hear everything that is being said to me and around me with clarity is such a wonderful blessing,” she explains.
“Having the gift of hearing is truly amazing and I am so very grateful to this program for assisting me with this very basic but very critical function in my life. Hearing clients both in person, and on the phone with clarity, will help me to serve their needs in a positive and more productive manner. Being able to participate in meetings, and hearing conversations without needing to wait for meeting minutes is something I really, really look forward to.”
She particularly commends the service she received from WorkBC Assistive Technology Services staff.
“I would definitely recommend this program to anyone needing assistance. From start to finish the process was made very easy, with the assistance from my case worker always being there to answer my questions, I was able to go through each step with confidence. The final result being able to receive these hearing devices that I otherwise could never afford has been a huge miracle in my life and in my future employment,” she says.
“I can’t express my gratitude enough for the support that this program has provided me. My case worker was amazing, I am just so very thankful for the kindness, compassion and support I was shown throughout the process.”
