“I Am Very Thankful [To] This Program for Giving Me [My] Smile, Hope, and Energy Back”

Hazen works as a care aid in a long-term care facility. A young cancer survivor, she has hearing loss as a side effect of her treatment, which affects her confidence in communicating in the workplace.
Through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, Hazen received funding for hearing aids for both ears.
“It was very helpful and [I’m] feeling better in my workplace,” she shares. “I am able to communicate with my co-workers [and] patients more effectively. I am also more confident to get involved in conversations with other people.”
She credits the new hearing aids with “saving my career and not feeling isolated anymore and feeling [like I’m] part of the team, [and] building better relationships with all people around me.”
Hazen says she “100%” recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services.
“It was very helpful and gives people hope in their life. The process is very user friendly, [with] lots of support and understanding to get the service you need. To be honest, at the beginning of my hearing [testing], I was thinking to not get hearing aids because it was very expensive,” she shares. “This kind of program [is] honestly giving me joy in my heart to know that funding is available to help people that don’t have the resources to get the support we need. It was a pleasure because [my case worker was] very helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable.”
“I am very thankful [to] this program for giving me [my] smile, hope, and energy back. Thank you very much again and I know you help a lot of people like me hoping for a better life.”
