Gloria works as a pharmacy assistant, handling everything from helping customers get their prescriptions to stocking the shelves. Recently, her hearing aids died, making it much more difficult to do her job.

Her hearing aid specialist referred her to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for help funding a new set of hearing aids. Assistive Technology Services staff walked her through every step of the process, ensuring that she got the hearing aids she needs for work.

“I now have new hearing aids that are adapted to my work situation, and [I] am now able to hear better what is said by pharmacy clients, co-workers, managers, and management, thus minimizing the opportunity to make errors at work,” she shares.

“I am more confident, happier, and more professionally able to meet my clients, employers, and co-workers needs. I look forward to my workday, and feel respected and valuable to my job.”

Gloria particularly appreciated the service she received from WorkBC Assistive Technology Services staff in Kelowna.

“I am not very technologically adept. [They] helped me all the way, and showed me [. . .] how to navigate the WorkBC [Assistive Technology Services] program successfully,” she explains.

“I highly recommend this program to others. I was truly treated respectfully and made to feel worthy,” Gloria continues. “[They] are to be commended for a job well done.”
