“I’m a Better Employee,” WorkBC Assistive Technology Services Helps Paula Take on More Duties at Work
Paula’s job includes taking care of admin duties like accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, as well as other general office duties. However, some tasks, like taking meeting minutes, were quite difficult for Paula.
“[I have] 100% hearing loss in [my] left ear,” she shares. “It limited the jobs I could apply [for], and limited the duties at my job I was able to do, like attending meetings, never mind taking minutes.”
Through WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, Paula received funding for the hearing aids she needs for work. She’s already noticed a big difference on the job.
“I wasn’t able to hear someone sitting beside me if there was any kind of other noise. I can now attend meetings and hear people on the other side of the room. I can attend meetings and also take my turn doing the minutes,” she says.
“My work environment as a whole has improved, I no longer have to hide in my office alone. I’m a better employee.”
Paula says she recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others, particularly praising the service she received from staff.
“Everyone I dealt with was amazing. Easy to deal with and helpful with any questions I had,” she explains.
“Thank you for your help. You didn’t just change my work life, you have changed my whole life [for] the better. I appreciate everything you have done for me.”
