Alan works at a post office sorting plant in Kelowna. He has hearing loss, which made it difficult for him to understand instructions and affected his safety as he was unable to hear all the different moving equipment around him in the busy plant.
“[I] was not able to hear adequately,” he shares.
His audiologist at HearingLife referred him to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for help purchasing new hearing aids. Alan applied to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services and was quickly approved for funding for the hearing aids he needs for work.
The hearing aids have made a big difference in his ability to do his job.
“I can operate more effectively and safer,” he shares. “I am now able to receive instructions from my supervisor clearly and can easily hear incoming communication.”
Alan particularly praises the service he received from WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, making the process as smooth as possible.
“The staff at WorkBC Assistive Technology Services were fantastic,” he shares. “[They] were very helpful and patient as we put the file together. They always communicated the files progress, so I always knew exactly where we were with the progress of my claim.
“[I] highly recommend this program to others.”
