How to: Access Microsoft Office and App Online

When it comes to word processors, Microsoft Office has been the top choice among professionals for around 20 years. Office is accessible, user-friendly, and packed with all the features you need to get writing. But not everyone knows that Microsoft Office also offers a free version of their app that can be accessed online or via app store. Today we’re going to dive a bit deeper into Microsoft Office’s various online apps, including what makes them different as well as how/where to access the various versions of Word.

 

How to Access Word Online for Free

There are two ways of accessing Microsoft Word Online:

Via Browser:

  1. Go to www.Office.com.
  2. Sign in to or create a Microsoft account.
  3. Once your account is created, you will be directed to the Office online dashboard.
  4. From the dashboard, you can navigate to your online app of choice, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote, ToDo, Calendar, and Skype.

Via App:

  1. For iOS users, open the App Store, for Android users, open the Google Play store.
  2. In the store’s search bar, type “Office”.
  3. Download the Microsoft Office app.
  4. Sign in to or create a Microsoft account.
  5. Once you’re signed in, you’ll be directed to the app’s dashboard.
  6. From here, tap on the + button to create a new Word doc, Excel sheet, Powerpoint presentation or a new Microsoft Form.

How to Access Word Online for 365 Subscribers

Accessing Word online as a 365 subscriber is essentially the same process, but users must sign in to an existing 365 subscription to get full access to the app and all its features.

Via Browser

  1. Go to www.Office.com.
  2. Sign in to an active 365 account.
  3. Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the Office online dashboard.
  4. From the dashboard, you can navigate to your online app of choice, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote, ToDo, Calendar, and Skype.

Via App

  1. For iOS users, open the App Store, for Android users, open the Google Play store.
  2. In the store’s search bar, type “Office”.
  3. Download the Microsoft Office app.
  4. Sign in to an active 365 account.
  5. Once you are signed in, you will be directed to the app’s main dashboard.
  6. From here, tap on the + button to create a new Word doc, Excel sheet, Powerpoint presentation or a new Microsoft Form.
