“Assistive Technology Services helped me to get a full time job,” Hao beams.

Today, Hao works as a banker in New Westminster, helping customers meet their financial needs and advising financial solutions.

Before landing this job, however, he was pounding the pavement looking for work, and he faced a significant barrier due to hearing loss. “My right ear has severe conductive hearing loss, and it impaired my abilities to communicate with customers and conduct my job duties.”

Hao decided to seek help, turning to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services. With the help of the program, Hao was able to obtain hearing aids which provided a much needed boost to his job search process.

It wasn’t long before he started seeing results.

“After I started to use this hearing aid, I attended three interviews and performed well with better interpersonal and presentation skills. After one month, I got a job offer,” Hao shares.

“The hearing aid improves my listening and speech abilities, and I can be more efficient and confident with costumers and help them to achieve their financial goals,” he explains.

Now, he “absolutely” recommends the program to others. “All the staff are friendly and caring, and they provided excellent service.”

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
